jrocco1971 - hcp: 22 - cost: $35

10/10 - As the sales manager for the in-house sales team at Villa del Palmar Resort & Spa, I was afforded the opportunity to play as often as I liked for only the cart fee of $35 from May 2018 to August 2020. I have since returned to TPC Danzante Bay as the sales director for Danzante Bay Real Estate and now play for free, though the current greens fee is $282 w/ cart.

This course is by far one of the most exciting I have ever played and although it lacks the history and cache of my home course, Red Hill Country Club, or some of the other courses I've played in the U.S., it is far and away the best experience and the most fun I've had since the time I was a memeber at Via Verde Country Club back in 1999-2003.

The signature hole at #17 is simply breathtaking. An island green requiring a 170-yard carry from the blacks onto a skinny little green perched atop an outcropping 100 feet above the ocean. You have to clear the canyon and be incredibly accurate with your distance in order to avoid the horseshoe bunker that protects the green on the north, south, and east sides...a birdie here feels like winning an Oscar! Hole #18 is what I consider to be the best finishing hole in modern golf. The Reese Jones design language really shines here where you have an elevated tee shot to start a long par 4 from about 30-45 feet above the fairway. A stone-filled dry creek bed running along the left side of the fairway all the way to the green is OB but it barely comes into play; it sure is a ton of fun. A blind tee shot where you can crush it while cutting across that creek bed (aiming toward the left corner of the tee box) and find your ball sitting 320+ yards down the fairway, just a wedge or a 9-iron shot away from the front of the 18th green. This is a high handicapper's dream finishing hole! No uphill battle and an easy birdie opportunity if your putter happens to be on that day.

The front 9 offers just as many dramatic tee shots, hole #3 being the most challengi
